    Description

Jerusalem Map Visscher 1650s City View from 18th Century Book Antique
Colorized map shows a 1650s view of the city of Jerusalem, done by the Dutch cartographer Claes Janszoon Visscher.
It is believed that this map is from a book published in the early to mid-18th century.
Check out Jerusalem’s famous walls and gates.
The map shows a bird’s-eye view of the city with important Biblical places noted.
There is a key of 36 numbered principal sites and drawings depicting people. This is one of the most popular views of ancient Jerusalem to circulate in Europe.
The map is matted and framed.
Map itself measures 7-3/4 inches x 6 inches.
The framed piece measures 11-3/4 inches x just under 10 inches.
The map is a little wavy and a very light fold. It is clean. Colors are bold considering its age.
There is a hook at the top for easy hanging.
Cardboard backing is taped with a fragile tape. The back is stamped by the framer and it is hard to read. I tried to take a zoom photo of it. Check the photos.
