$ 72.86

Availability: 100 in stock
  • Modified Item: No
  • Condition: The jug is in very good condition with consideration to age. There is a crack under the handle which appears to be a manufacturing fault as it shows up in many of them. It may be that the jug was still wet and streaked when the handle was attached. The mouth of the jug has a paper-like covering which has not been removed.Please see pix for exterior condition of this almost 200 year old clay bottle. There are no major chips or damage but has manufacturing imperfections due to the handmade nature. The bottom of the handle has the clay smeared during the mfg process and is a slightly different color at that point. The handle crack does not affect it structurally. As in many of these examples, the seal put into the clay is not perfect. Part of the word Nassau can be read under magnification and the center of the seal shows what seems to be a figure of a bird. The #28 is clearly visible below the handle. Some of the clear glazing is still visible. no attempt to repair or refurbish.
